Wish Kid Eats Up Cooking Lesson in Winter Wonderland

ABITA SPRINGS, La. (January 2021): Kids Wish Network cooked up the perfect adventure for Tyson, a sweet boy who loves making his family breakfast, and dreams about playing in the snow for the first time. He woke up to an eventful morning filled with gifts from Abita Springs Café in Louisiana, receiving a chef hat embroidered with his name, an apron, pots and pans, and all the essential staples to whip up his breakfast favorites from scratch. Tyson’s culinary skills were then taken to the next level with an exclusive cooking lesson with the restaurant’s owner Brent Belsom on a live video call. He was virtually taught step-by-step how to make perfectly crafted pancakes, omelets, and over-easy eggs. He also gave Tyson encouragement, the best recipe for success.

Another Surprise

And then came the coolest surprise. Belsom shared that Kids Wish Network is making his dream come true, staying in the winter wonderland of his dreams! His family received Airbnb and gas gift cards to experience his ultimate snowy adventure. 

Tyson can’t wait for his birthday this year. His wish will have him celebrating with his family at a cabin in the Smoky Mountains. “He was jumping up and down with excitement,” said his mom Sandy. Tyson is looking forward to snowball fights and making his first snowman. 

“We’re thrilled we could further nurture Tyson’s love of cooking, and enable him to have an adventure on a beautiful snowy landscape full of so many wondrous firsts,” said his Wish Coordinator Kim Kreiner.

Tyson has a seizure disorder, and if he gets sick with a fever, it triggers episodes. He’s been in the hospital several times, and also copes with headaches.
