Karla Faces Challenges of Injury with Vigor

Karla continued to exemplify courage throughout her recovery process and therapy treatments.

Karla was in a car accident and admitted to the CoxHealth Dee Ann White Women’s and Children’s Hospital pediatric ICU. Even though she had limitations with a cast and walker for her fractured leg, she was very motivated to be up and moving around. Her nurse was amazed at how resilient and brave she was throughout her hospital experience. Karla’s biggest concerns were about her grandmother and a younger brother who also suffered injuries from the accident.

After a few days in the PICU, Karla continued to exemplify courage throughout her recovery process and therapy treatments. She was nominated by her Child Life Specialist Rana Post, and Kids Wish Network happily honored brave Karla as a Hero of the Month.
