Cancer Survivor Gets Wish to Visit Aunt

Texas Boy and Family Enjoy Family Trip to Las Vegas

GRANBURY, Texas (September 2020): It was shocking for Alexander Harris to be diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. He appeared to be the picture of health until becoming ill with what he thought was a sinus infection. After being in bed for a week and still not feeling better, he was taken to the emergency room. No one would have expected that only hours later he’d be told he had leukemia. Alexander’s cancer battle was an intense one spanning a year filled with five rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.

After going through so much, Alexander simply wished to take his family on a trip to visit his aunt in Las Vegas after so many years apart. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses, made his wish a reality by providing Alexander and his family a generous Hotels.com gift card, along with airfare for their travels to the fabulous Las Vegas.

More Surprises

As an additional surprise, Merlin’s Magic Wand provided tickets for Alexander’s family to have an immersive hangout with over 100 celebrity figures at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, the very first location to open in the United States over 20 years ago!                                                                                                                        

“Alexander is excited about his upcoming trip, and we’re so happy we could make it happen for him,” said his Wish Coordinator Melissa Calabrese.
