12-Year-Old Hero Honored For Selfless Acts of Kindness
Trent is a twelve-year-old boy persevering through his own personal battles. He displayed outstanding compassion for others in need when he donated new toys to the local police department and brought food and water to the homeless. Kids Wish Network is honored to award this brave warrior with a compassionate heart as our Hero of the Year 2019.
Trent thought he was just heading out for some ice cream at Dough & Arrows, the shop where his older brother works, but he was in for a bigger treat. There was a heartfelt surprise gathering of family, love, and support, celebrating Trent’s efforts and Hero status. He was awarded $3,000 as Kids Wish Network Hero of the Year 2019 in addition to a customized gift bank of toys and necessity items to the organization of his choice.
Trent selected the West Manheim Police Department as the recipient of the $20,000 gift bank in his honor. Kids Wish Network also is partnering with Dough & Arrows to provide every Hanover law enforcement officer a two-scoop cone when they visit the creamery on Baltimore Street before the end of September 2020.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for everything!” said Trent’s mom Aimee. “Trent said yesterday was the best day of his life! We are so grateful for the opportunity!”
Trent was recognized as a Hero of the Month in Kid Wish Network’s Hero program as he has undergone many challenges in his young life. He has suffered through several medical issues that resulted in complications forcing him to give up sports and dealing with severe bullying. Yet his strife never kept him down. He still only thought of others and actively sought to help those in need. He was selected from so many exceptional and inspiring nominees honored over the past year. We recognize these heroes for their positivity and ability to overcome adversities by inspiring others.
“Trent was selected as Kids Wish Network’s Hero of the Year because, despite all the hardships he went through, he showed that a true hero thinks of others,” said Kids Wish Network’s Wish Manager Tambra Fulk. “We wanted to make sure we celebrated his giving spirit!”
Anyone can become a wish granter and help provide memorable connections and opportunities like Trent received. Medical professionals, family members, and others can also refer kids to receive hope-infusing wishes.
