Girl Survives Flesh-Eating Bacteria with Remarkable Strength

Bailey’s reality was unthinkable. She was hospitalized for nearly a month after the skin on her hand and arm were ravaged by a flesh-eating bacteria. Bailey underwent eight debridement surgeries and reconstructive surgery. Although it was traumatic and unbearably painful, Bailey stayed positive and faced the uncertainties and procedures with unwavering courage. She handled each difficulty with grace, even when she had to spend her birthday and Thanksgiving in her hospital room. Bailey’s strength and resiliency through it all was remarkable. She was nominated by her Child Life Specialist Monica Lantz at the Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center (Oklahoma City, OK). Kids Wish Network is honored to reward Bailey as a Hero.

Kids Wish Network has been making dreams come true for children since 1997. We are dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children experiencing life-altering situations. We started with the single purpose of granting wishes to children suffering from life-threatening conditions but have since created additional programs to benefit kids nationwide, including Hero of the Month, Project Toy Drop, Holiday of Hope Gift Banks, and A Child Forever Funeral Assistance.
