Wish Kid Surprised with First Family Getaway, Florida Style

BOWIE, Md. (April 2023): Ruben’s family hasn’t been able to travel, but that’s all about to change. He was surprised with a once-in-a-lifetime wish that made it possible for him to experience some of Orlando’s top theme parks. Kids Wish Network purchased generous Disney gift cards that his family can use throughout all of its parks for dining, souvenirs and more, Pack & Go eGift cards to cover their mode of travel and accommodations, Domino’s gift cards, and additional means to make Ruben’s dream getaway extra memorable. When his family can travel, Kids Wish Network is also facilitating 3-day Disney Park Hopper passes, 2-day Universal Orlando passes courtesy of Universal, and a day at Peppa Pig Theme Park Florida provided by Merlin’s Magic Wand. Ruben’s time away will be full of special firsts and meaningful family togetherness. 

He struggles with monoallelic mutation CACNA1A, chronic lung disease and epilepsy, enduring daunting daily health battles. When he was one, he suffered a seizure that affected his ability to swallow, making it necessary for him to be tube fed. Ruben’s muscles have also weakened, and he undergoes physical, occupational and speech therapies. He’s been on life support over ten times since his first birthday.
