Wish for a Dreamy Space Brings Heartfelt Happy Tear
CARNEGIE, Pa. (October 2024): Teresa was beaming with anticipation when she opened a special gift box from Kids Wish Network. The envelope labeled “open me,” contained the answer to her exciting unknown. What was her wish going to be? It was hard to wait any longer, and she didn’t have to.
When Teresa looked inside, she was awestruck. Kids Wish Network surprised her with Pottery Barn Teen gift cards to transform her bedroom into an exquisite dream space. Her mouth gaped open, her eyes widened, and she welled up with happy tears. Teresa was sweetly emotional, and she and her mom embraced. “It was such a beautiful moment,” said her mom Chelsea. The joy continued with Teresa and her wish coordinator exchanging virtual hugs on their computer screens.
She will have so much fun shopping and decorating her new bedroom, creating a stylish space to relax and hang out with friends.
Teresa has gone through many medical challenges since birth. Her most recent diagnosis was papillary thyroid carcinoma, a type of thyroid cancer. Scans revealed it had metastasized in her lungs and spots in her bones. Teresa’s thyroid had thousands of tumors, so she underwent surgery to have it removed, as well as her parathyroid glands. She’s also been through rounds of radiation and oral chemotherapy. Teresa still has tumors, but they’re not showing signs of growth. Doctors continue to monitor her health.
