The Sweetest Spree for Wish Kid
MaKynlee Gifted Once-In-A-Lifetime Shopping Spree
FULTON, Ky. (January 2021): MaKynlee’s favorite pastimes are shopping and baking, making her wish with Kids Wish Network extra sweet. The details were kept super hush-hush and divulged to MaKynlee and her family at Carlisle County Elementary. Her school hosted a socially-distanced mini watch party for the live Zoom reveal, complete with balloons and flowers provided by B & T Florist. When it was time, MaKynlee’s wish coordinator joyfully shared that Kids Wish Network is granting her a shopping spree at Walmart, giving her a super-loaded gift card for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at her favorite store! Her love of baking was also further inspired, gifting her a professional pink chef coat embroidered with her name, and a chef hat, courtesy of KNG.
When MaKynlee and her family arrived at the Fulton Walmart, she was greeted with a welcome sign and gift basket brimming with baking supplies and other goodies gifted by the store. Having so much to spend for her spree, Walmart provided her with three personal shoppers to help as she filled up one of the store’s industrial carts and a shopping cart with her adored items. Some of her favorite picks were a smart TV, mini-fridge, electric scooters for herself and her brother, and an instant camera. Her grandma also got in on the fun, following Makynlee aisle by aisle with a calculator. She aced the spree with 88 cents to spare!
It’s been a struggle since MaKynlee first began suffering from extreme pain in her legs, having flare-ups so severe, that she couldn’t walk. She also had chest pains and shortness of breath, with additional symptoms that worsened over time. MaKynlee was finally diagnosed with juvenile dermatomyositis and has been through intense treatments with weekly injections, IVIG infusions, oral steroids, and physical therapy.
“MaKynlee’s spree was like nothing she’s ever experienced before,” said her Wish Coordinator Kim Kreiner. “It was a special time just for her, and a fun-filled adventure shopping for all the things she’s been dreaming about.”
Many Thanks
Kids Wish Network could not have provided this wish to MaKynlee without the help of Walmart (Fulton), KNG (chef wear and restaurant uniforms), B & T Florist, and the many supporters who believe in making wishes come true for kids who need hope.
