Shopping Spree Nurtures Beauty of Joy from the Inside Out
GREENWOOD, Ind. (July 2024): Abigail was on a video call with her Kids Wish Network wish coordinator, when a staff member of Luxe Limousine Service also joined the video chat. He put his acting skills to the test, pretending that he accidentally opened her mail after a supposed mix-up at the post office. He then filled her in on her big surprise contained inside the envelope. Kids Wish Network was making her dream come true, sending her gift cards loaded with spending money for Sephora and Best Buy! Her eyes widened in amazement. “Sounds like you’re going on a shopping spree kiddo!” he said. “I’m just not sure how we’re going to get them to you since we’re busy all the time. Since we can’t really figure out a way, how about we just come and pick you up in one of our limousines and take you shopping for the day?” She covered her face, giggled and nodded. Luxe Limousine Service kindly donated their services to make Abigail’s wish over the top luxurious, and Kids Wish Network purchased the Sephora and Best Buy gift cards for the shopping spree at her favorite stores.
On Abigail’s big day, a chauffeured stretch limousine pulled up to her home and picked up her family for her extravagant outing. It was her first time in a limo, and she felt so fancy! Luxe Limousine Service also surprised Abigail with a gift bag of Bubble products, face masks and a terry cloth set. She hadn’t even set foot in a store yet, and was already being showered with gifts.
When they arrived at Sephora at Greenwood Park Mall, she continued to feel like a celebrity with a grand entrance. She was greeted with black and white balloon towers with red lips donated by Eight One Two Events. Sephora also celebrated her with a yellow floral bouquet to add even more sunshine to her day. Abigail continued to be the center of attention with her own personal shopper who was also a professional make-up artist. She was given a personalized experience with skillful tips and a skin scan to ensure she was getting the best products for her specific skin type. It was a shopping adventure like never before. Abigail’s gift card had so much spending money, she barely had to look at the prices when filling all the high-end skincare products into her basket. It was an amazing and unfamiliar feeling. Her inner joy was already radiating her outer glow. Abigail left the store with her many bags of treasured beauty products, and was ready to continue shopping!
Their next stop was Best Buy in Greenwood. Abigail was also warmly welcomed by staff with her own shopping cart decorated with streamers, balloons, her name, and a plush Squishmallow gift inside. Her Best Buy gift card from Kids Wish Network was also loaded with spending money, enabling her to purchase an iPad, airpods, 40” Roku TV, Apple pencil, protective iPad case, and another Squishmallow. At the end of her shopping extravaganza, Best Buy staff also celebrated Abigail’s upcoming birthday with a cake in her favorite color, more balloons, and singing to the birthday girl. And then it was time for dinner.
Their limousine whisked them away to Buca di Beppo in Greenwood for continued indulgence. The fun and festive ambiance was the perfect place to continue honoring Abigail. They dined on hearty Italian fare, and enjoyed every morsel of decadence. “We even enjoyed getting appetizers, as we don’t usually do that,” said her mom Sarah. The restaurant graciously provided her family’s meals for Abigail’s extraordinary day.
“We appreciate all of the work that you put into the wish, I know it was a lot,” said Abigail’s mom to Kids Wish Network. In addition to all the special aspects of her wish, her family is also grateful for the outpour of kindness, and quality time together celebrating Abigail.
Abigail has Crohn’s disease, and undergoes IV treatments every 6 weeks.
