Teen Bravely Persists to Walk On Her Own

Julia was born premature due to maternal complications. She was delayed in all physical milestones, and cannot walk without assistance. She’s been throughs o much, undergoing surgeries and numerous Botox injections in her legs to help overcome spasticity. Julia’s most recent surgery to straighten her legs could possibly lead to walking independently in the future .She continues to work hard and strive for her goals. Even though Julia has weepy moments, she bravely pushes through and is a trooper in coping with the discomfort of treatments and all her necessary care. She loves swimming and participating in Special Olympics bowling. She’s also inspired others taking part in Special Olympics snow shoeing, pushing a walker mounted to skiis. Julia was nominated by her Child Life Specialist Anne O'Gorman at Shriners Hospitals for Children—Springfield in Massachusetts. Kids Wish Network is thrilled to acknowledge her as a Hero of the Month.
