At four years old, Carina remained in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for several days. It was a challenging time for her. Carina struggled with the realities of several surgeries, and had to deal with the discomfort of a PICC line and oxygen during her hospitalization. She was nominated by her Child Life Specialist Liz Smith at Maimonides Children’s Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Kids Wish Network is pleased to award Carinaas a Hero of the Month.“She really enjoyed it. Thanks so much for the gift; you guys made our family so happy,” said her mom to Kids Wish Network. “God bless all of you involved.”
