Lightning Strikes Twice with Usain Bolt Wish by Kids Wish Network
OCHO RIOS, Jamaica (December 2021): For Wish Kid and runner Isaac, lightning strikes twice. His dream first came true meeting eight-time Olympic champion and eleven-time world champion sprinter Usain Bolt on a virtual Zoom. During the on-screen hangout with his idol dubbed the “world’s fastest man,” Bolt said if they come to Jamaica they could meet up. Kids Wish Network made it happen, sending Isaac and his family for a weeklong stay at the all-inclusive and luxurious Moon Palace resort in Ocho Rios!
It was all so surreal. It was the day before Thanksgiving, and Isaac and his family were in Jamaica sitting across from Bolt, his greatest source of inspiration. They talked about his coveted medals, and Bolt motivated Isaac to keep practicing to obtain his goals. Bolt also signed Isaac’s shirt and Usain Bolt sneakers that Kids Wish Network gifted him. The once-in-a-lifetime get together also included a photo session where everyone struck Usain’s signature “bolting” pose capturing Isaac’s victorious wish.
The two athletes share many common traits, and the meaningful exchange was a feel-good experience they’ll both remember. It was fitting that it happened the day before Thanksgiving, there was so much to be thankful for. “It was amazing!” said Isaac with a big smile.
Isaac has cerebral palsy, and additional health complications from a brain bleed that doctors thought would keep him from walking, talking, or even recognizing his family. There was also a point when he wasn’t expected to live. He miraculously thrived, and not only did he learn to walk, he surprised everyone when he began running competitively, including cross-country. He’s now more motivated than ever, and his forward momentum continues.
