Hospitalized Hero Chooses Happiness and Later Gives Back

It was a scary time for Xavier and his family. When he arrived at the hospital, he was extremely lethargic and his health and mobility were at an all-time low. Even though it was an emotional time, he remained cheerful in all his interactions with hospital staff. No matter what came his way, he greeted everyone with a smile. He and his mom were grateful for all the wonderful care he received and later showed their appreciation by volunteering at the hospital. Xavier was nominated as a Hero by Lisa Kristoff, his child Life Specialist at Beaumont Children’s Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. “When I asked if I could nominate him, his mother cried,” said Kristoff. “She was so touched.” Kids Wish Network is delighted to honor Xavier as a Hero of the Month.

Kids Wish Network has been making dreams come true for children since 1997. We are dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children experiencing life-altering situations. We started with the single purpose of granting wishes to children suffering from life-threatening conditions but have since created additional programs to benefit kids nationwide, including Hero of the Month, Project Toy Drop, Holiday of Hope Gift Banks, and A Child Forever Funeral Assistance.
