Daphney went to the hospital after coming down with a high fever and not being able to walk. She courageously went through a variety of unknowns with testing, IV treatments, medications, and therapy. “Daphney always took her medicine with a smile on her face, and rocked her physical therapy sessions,” said Kayleigh Stark, her Child Life Specialist at Dee Ann White Women’s and Children’s hospital in Springfield, MO. Throughout her nearly week-long stay, she kept a can-do attitude relearning how to walk with a walker and impressed staff with her determination in striving to meet her goals to go home. She was nominated by her Child Life Specialist, and Kids Wish Network is happy to name Daphney as a Hero of the Month.

Kids Wish Network has been making dreams come true for children since 1997. We are dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children experiencing life-altering situations. We started with the single purpose of granting wishes to children suffering from life-threatening conditions but have since created additional programs to benefit kids nationwide, including Hero of the Month, Project Toy Drop, Holiday of Hope Gift Banks, and A Child Forever Funeral Assistance.
