Dyan Strives to Walk and Gives Back after Surviving Trauma

Dylan Matkins 1.jpg

Dylan lost a lot of blood after an accidental shooting. He was in and out of consciousness on the way to the hospital and rushed into surgery to repair lacerated organs and recover his blood loss. The bullet also caused severe damage to his spinal cord, and Dylan continues to work hard in physical therapy as he strives to walk again. His courage is tested daily, having to push through the extreme pain. Nearly eight months after his accident, Dylan did something special to give back for the blood donations that helped save his life. He honored his community by hosting his own blood drive, and collected nearly100 units, symbolizing the amount he needed for his surgeries. Kids Wish Network is proud to award this determined Hero for his bravery and inspiring acts of goodness in his community

Kids Wish Network has been making dreams come true for children since 1997. We are dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children experiencing life-altering situations. We started with the single purpose of granting wishes to children suffering from life-threatening conditions but have since created additional programs to benefit kids nationwide, including Hero of the Month, Project Toy Drop, Holiday of Hope Gift Banks, and A Child Forever Funeral Assistance.
