Hero Endures Medical Struggles and Compassionately Encourages Others
“Greyson is a hero to all the staff at our hospital because of his bravery, positive attitude, and courage as he faces each medical situation,” said his Child Life Specialist Annie Insley at Prisma Health Children’sHospital in Columbia, SC. He has been hospitalized many times, but most recently has been in the hospital almost every week for the last two months for either a procedure or stay. Greyson has faced each of those experiences with a smile on his face. He has had multiple surgeries to help with his immotility, countless pokes, and many NG tubes which were his least favorite. Thankfully, he can joke about them now.
“He is one of the only patients I’ve had who will get up right after surgery to walk as he is asked without complaining,” said his child life specialist. “Most of the time, he doesn’t even need to be reminded to talk, he will just do it because he knows it is what he needs to do. ”Greyson is driven and dedicated and does not let his condition get him down. He is also kind and respectful to all the staff and is always making them laugh. Greyson has made many friends during his hospitalization and is always so reassuring to each one.“While playing in the playroom, he saw another patient who also had a drain and began talking to him about it and encouraging him,” said his Child Life Specialist who nominated him as a Hero.
Kids WishNetwork is so happy to reward Greyson for his bravery, positivity and, determination in facing his own medical challenges while also maintaining his compassion and helping others.
