WWII Buff Experiences Wish of Historic Proportions
NEW ORLEANS, La. (August 2021): Ian is a World War II buff, and admits to knowing pretty much everything about its history. He found out there was still so much to learn during his dream coming true with Kids Wish Network, experiencing his extraordinary adventure of historic proportions.
Kids Wish Network flew his family to New Orleans, and it was especially thrilling for Ian having his first flight on an airplane. His Wish Trip also engaged him in his favorite period of history, getting to experience the National World War II Museum. The attraction provided admission and tickets for their interactive and exclusive Campaigns of Courage guided tour, taking Ian’s family through a special walk-through area about the roads to Berlin and Tokyo. They also explored all the fascinating exhibits, artifacts, and multimedia that immersed him inside the story of the war. “Seeing the planes and tanks up close was really cool!” Ian excitedly recalled. “I loved watching Ian being so excited and taking everything in,” said his mom Francheska. “It was an amazing museum and we hope to go back.”
They were also indulged in a memorable stay at the Higgins Hotel & Conference Center, the official hotel of the National World War II Museum. The swanky hotel further connected Ian with his fascination of history. It was literally attached to the museum, and adorned in WWII photography, artwork, artifacts, and personal story plaques to further embrace him in the era of Americans coming together for victory. The hotel surprised Ian with an official shirt and hat from the museum, and a World War II Monopoly game. “They treated us like royalty,” said his mom.
During the wish, they sampled the flavors of New Orleans, experiencing po’ boys at Oceana restaurant, and what Ian said was the best pizza at Domenica restaurant. Dining was courtesy of the restaurants.
“This has been an amazing experience for my family and we’re so appreciative,” said his mom. “Thank you all so much!”
And Ian still has something else to look forward to back in Florida. He loves bears, and is excited to visit Grizzly Ranch and Florida Black Bear Rescue. They invited him for a special day at their wildlife park and educational facility that provides a natural environment for rescue bears in need.
Ian has epilepsy and struggles with absence seizures. He also has additional health complications from a rare chromosomal condition.
Many Thanks
Kids Wish Network could not have provided this wish to Ian without the help of The National WWII Museum, Higgins Hotel & Conference Center, Oceana Grill, Domenica restaurant, Grizzly Ranch and Florida Black Bear Rescue, and the many supporters who believe in making wishes come true for kids who need hope.
