Wish Kid will Swing into Happiness

NEW IBERIA, La. (May 2021): Sadiya loves being outside, especially when she feels the carefree joy of swinging on her friend’s playset. It’s a much-needed escape from all the medical stresses that have challenged her throughout her childhood. Kids Wish Network wanted to make it possible for Sadiya to experience such bliss right in her own backyard and surprised her family with a generous Lowe’s gift card to pick out the swing set of Sadiya’s dreams. “I can’t wait to see her excitement when we finally get a swing set,” shared her mom Mary with their wish coordinator. “Thank y’all again so much!”Sadiya was diagnosed with a heart defect and Down Syndrome even before she was born. At only six weeks old, she underwent her first heart surgery, with her second at six months old. Sadiya spent over a month in the NICU for heart failure, having fluid in her lungs, and not gaining weight.

The challenges kept coming. She was later diagnosed with acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia(ALL) and went through chemo treatments. Sadiyais currently in remission, and continues to need full labs every few months. She also uses leg braces for stability while walking, and takes medication for seizures.
