Wish Kid Meets Country Singer-Songwriter Hero
Johnson City, TN (May 2023) – For twelve-year-old Parker, battling Becker Muscular Dystrophy can be an all-consuming event. But Parker has a few passions in his life that help make his days brighter - drumming and country music. Kids Wish Network curated a special Wish for Parker – a flight to Nashville, Tennessee, to meet his hero, Country music singer-songwriter, Coffey Anderson!
Kids Wish Network flew Parker and his family to Nashville on his very first flight, with him and his siblings receiving wings from Delta Airlines.
Parker’s Wish started with a surprise meeting with Coffey Anderson on a private terrace overlooking the Nashville skyline, where he received an autograph guitar strap from Coffey. It was there that Parker found out that this was not the only surprise for his day. Coffey revealed to Parker that he would be attending Coffey’s performance at the Grand Ole Opry as his guest of honor, complete with backstage passes and a private tour by Coffey. Parker was beside himself with excitement and could not wait till the concert.
Rocono Transport donated their services and picked up Parker and his family in a deluxe Sprinter van stocked with sodas and water. Once they arrived at the Grand Ole Opry, Parker, and his family were treated like A-list celebrities with a police escort backstage provided by the Nashville Police, who presented Parker with a challenge coin shaped like a guitar.
Being a drummer himself, Parker was over the moon excited to receive an autographed drumstick by Coffey’s drummer Jason “Big Red” Young, and was then whisked on stage with Coffey for a few pictures. Parker and his family got to enjoy the entire show center stage.
Kids Wish Network had one last Wish surprise for Parker and his family. The next day, Parker and his family were treated to Nashville Madame Tussauds with complimentary tickets provided by Merklin’s Magic Wand, and Monday enjoyed complimentary tickets to the Country Music Hall of Fame.
