Wish Kid Elated for Favorite Things

FOREST HILLS, La.(May 2021): Jon is multifaceted and finds his happiness reading books, building models, LEGO sets, and playing the guitar with his dad in church. He also loves spending time with his extended family and was hoping to reunite everyone together again. With so many interests, Kids Wish Network made his dream come true combining all of his favorite things. Jon had no idea what was in store for him during his dinner at Texas Roadhouse, courtesy of the restaurant. He had a big surprise coming from Kids Wish Network!“Dad brought out an envelope, and I had no idea what it was,” said Jon. “And then he just started pulling gift cards out of the envelope! I sat there stunned for a good ten minutes.” Jon giggled as he recalled the moment, still in disbelief of how much he received. There were gift cards for Amazon, Books-A-Million, and Walmart that were loaded with spending money so Jon could indulge in a once-in-a-lifetime shopping spree. He also received a generous gift card to Airbnb, enabling him to choose the perfect destination for the family gathering he was wishing for.“It’s more than what Jon could have dreamed of, he’s so excited,” said his dad Jonathan. Jon underwent surgery as a toddler. He was born with cerebral palsy and spina bifida and also has a foot that is paralytic. He wasn’t expected to walk until he was ten years old but surprised everyone walking at two. Jon also struggles with additional medical complications and has suffered great loss in his life. Despite his hardships, he radiates sunshine to everyone around him, excels in school, and remains positive for a bright future.
