Wish is Golden with Olympic Superstar Simone Biles
Emily McPhail flips for gymnastics – it’s a life passion. Despite the health challenges of her autoimmune condition, she still dreams about competing in the Olympics. Kids Wish Network, a children’s charity that grants wishes for kids with life-threatening illnesses, brought home the gold... Emily would be meeting her inspiration, four-time Olympic champion Simone Biles.
Her dynamic wish was at World Champions Centre where Olympic superstar Simone Biles trains. Emily was first given a tour of the expansive gymnastics complex. She said, “Simone’s is a lot bigger.” After touring, she was inspirited by watching Biles in action, performing her extraordinary skills during a class. Emily’s takeaway? “I should probably work a lot harder!” she said. Biles then spent time with Emily getting to know her, talking about competitions, and taking pictures. It’s a big deal meeting an idol, Emily was a little star-struck. She also met Biles’ parents and one of her coaches. “My favorite part was seeing Emily meet Simone,” said her mom Amy.
It was also a golden moment for Emily when Biles gifted her a leotard, shirt, and signed photo as special mementos of their time together.
Kids Wish Network Executive Director Tam Lai said, “A very special thank you to Simone Biles for sharing her time and further encouraging Emily to follow her dreams.”
