Wish is an Ocean Full of Fun as Honored Guest of SEA LIFE Aquarium
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – Remington is an animal lover, and especially loves learning all about ocean life. She even sees herself as a marine biologist when she grows up. Merlin’s Magic Wand Entertainment reached out to Kids Wish Network with a VIP invitation for one of its wish kids to be the guest of honor at SEA LIFE Aquarium Charlotte-Concord’s holiday tree lighting event. Remington was chosen, and would soon be on her way to the happiest of holidays!
Kids Wish Network flew Remington’s family to Charlotte on her first flight ever. She loved all the extra attention being invited into the cockpit to meet the pilots, take pictures, and sit in the captain’s chair. She felt very special, and was full of anticipation for all the fun ahead.
SEA LIFE Aquarium Charlotte-Concord was all decked out in holiday splendor, and needed just one final touch. Remington stood in front of the crowd with her parents and siblings, and they were introduced as this year’s Merlin’s Magic Wand Family. “We hold every family who comes and lights our tree very dear to our hearts,” said the aquarium’s tree lighting host. It was Remington’s time to shine! She stood in front of their big Christmas tree, and on the count of three waved her wand activating all the dazzling lights. She glowed with joy, among all the sparkling illumination. “It felt magical,” said Remington.
The day’s festivities also included a visit with Santa and a mermaid, and Remington and her siblings having their faces painted in aquatic themes. SEA LIFE Aquarium also provided a night at the aquarium that included a private tour where Remington was further inspired spending time with a marine biologist. Her family also watched Finding Dory, and had a very special overnight slumber party just for them. Their bedtime accommodations were what dreams are made of. Tents with beds decorated in sea themed linens sat among the ambient glow of the aquariums. Remington’s tent was right near the window of an aquatic tank for gazing into her favorite world. She was delighted every time the large stingray swam by. It was a magical night to remember. Remington was also invited to pick out her favorite things at the gift shop including an orca whale stuffy. Admission and all the VIP experiences were courtesy of SEA LIFE Aquarium Charlotte-Concord.
Her wish was also filled with memorable restaurants. They enjoyed fine dining at Eddie V’s with their own private dining room. Remington said, “It was a feast!” Lunches were also special at Southern Pecan and Brixx Pizza Dilworth. The family’s meals were graciously provided by the restaurants.
During the getaway, her family stayed at The Hampton Inn Concord, with their accommodations donated by the hotel.
Her wish was full of holiday magic, aquatic inspirations and fun family togetherness. The joy she felt will continue as happy memories.
Remington’s medical history is unthinkable, being diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer. She underwent surgery to remove the softball sized malignant tumor, as well as her left ovary. She is now cancer free, and continues to have routine blood work and CT scans to monitor her health.
