BOTHELL, Wash. (June 2024): Despite Ruby’s challenges, she is joyful and resilient. It’s endearing seeing her sweet smile when she’s interacting with family and friends, or enjoying music, lights, dancing and bright colors. Kids Wish Network made her dream come true, purchasing her a generous gift card for Fun and Function, an online retailer of sensory and therapeutic products, toys, and games with unique sensory solutions designed by therapists. Fun and Function further boosted her shopping experience, kindly donating their own gift card. It will be amazing for Ruby to have so many beneficial sensory tools right in her own home. Her happiness will continue to bloom.

Ruby was unexpectedly born premature. During her three months in the hospital, the ICU ran many tests, and she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, G/J tube dependence and a seizure disorder. Ruby undergoes physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapies, and will soon be getting a service dog to alert her family of pulmonary distress. She wears foot, ankle, leg and hand braces, takes seizure medications, and uses a ventilator when sleeping. Ruby uses a wheelchair for mobility, and relies on her parents and nurse for all of her needs.
