KATY, Texas (October 2024): Kids Wish Network made Laila’s dream come true, giving her adventures in a new reality with a Meta Quest 3 512GB Virtual Reality Headset. She can now enjoy immersive gaming and far away adventures from the comfort of her own home.

Laila’s symptoms began as fatigue, trouble sleeping and high blood pressure. A scan revealed a growth on one of her kidneys which at the time didn’t appear serious, so it would be monitored for changes. She was also given dietary suggestions to help reduce her blood pressure, but it didn’t improve. An eye exam later revealed alarming findings, and the results immediately sent her to the ER. The blood vessels behind Laila’s eyes were bursting, and she was experiencing a hypertensive crisis. Several tests and a scan determined that the growth on Laila’s kidney was actually a malignant tumor, and it had grown in size. Laila was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma, a type of kidney cancer. She had surgery to remove the entire tumor, along with half of her affected kidney.
