Sean Perseveres through the Pain and Inspires Others
Sean still remains in the top 5% of his class
Kids Wish Network is proud to award Sean as a Hero of the Month. He’s been a patient of Shriners Hospitals for Children in Springfield since he was four-days-old, undergoing the Ponseti method of casting to correct his congenital clubfeet. He never lets his feet stop him mentally or physically and enjoys time with his peers playing on his local baseball, basketball, and football teams. He continues to work through the physical pain, and it only motivates him to challenge himself further. Even with all the difficulties of Sean’s surgeries and treatments, he remains in the top 5% of his class.
He’s a silent leader in sports, who other teammates turn to during tough game practices. Throughout the years and surgeries, he’s been grateful for all the amazing Shriners staff who have helped him be as mobile and able as possible. His Nurse Care Manager, Jodi Terrel, nominated Sean because of his courage, determination, and positivity.

Kids Wish Network has been making dreams come true for children since 1997. We are dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children experiencing life-altering situations. We started with the single purpose of granting wishes to children suffering from life-threatening conditions but have since created additional programs to benefit kids nationwide, including Hero of the Month, Project Toy Drop, Holiday of Hope Gift Banks, and A Child Forever Funeral Assistance.
