PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (May 2022): Avery hoped to go to Disneyland, and it was happening sooner than he could have imagined. Kids Wish Network made his dream come true with generous Disney gift cards, a Pack & Go gift card that they could use for air travel, a road trip, or even accommodations. They’ll also be going to Universal Studios Hollywood, compliments of the theme park. His brother is also a Wish Kid, and they’re excited to celebrate their special wishes together with double the thrills!

Avery was born with breathing difficulties. He also had growth issues. At 12 months old, he was only 12 pounds due to a growth hormone deficiency affecting his pituitary gland. More testing revealed he also had Chiari malformation, and he underwent brain surgery and an additional operation to repair his spine. Avery later came down with meningitis that left him fatigued and needing a feeding tube. Overtimehe’s’s been able to work his way up to eating solid foods again. Avery continues to work hard in physical, speech, and occupational therapies to help him regain the development he lost during his recovery after multiple surgeries. He also has immune dysfunctions.
