Joee Sings Her Way Through Uncertainty and Pain
A couple of months after Joee underwent surgery, she returned to Shriners Hospitals for Children in Philadelphia, PA for in-patient rehabilitation. She was scared of all the unknowns and the pain she might feel as she strengthened and reconditioned her atrophied muscles. Joee helped herself cope by deep breathing and singing during her sessions, she even created her own special song. She continued to work hard during her two-week stay and pushed through all the challenges of her therapy. Joee impressed the staff with her dedication and was nominated by her Child Life intern Lauren Skorpski. Kids Wish Network awarded this Hero for her positivity, bravery and determination.
Kids Wish Network has been making dreams come true for children since 1997. We are dedicated to infusing hope, creating happy memories, and improving the quality of life for children experiencing life-altering situations. We started with the single purpose of granting wishes to children suffering from life-threatening conditions but have since created additional programs to benefit kids nationwide, including Hero of the Month, Project Toy Drop, Holiday of Hope Gift Banks, and A Child Forever Funeral Assistance.
