Hero Bravely Copes with Health Trauma and Diagnosis

Lana was having stomach pain, and that’s when her mom discovered a bulge nearly the size of a baseball in the side of her abdomen. She was brought to their family physician, and then immediately taken to the hospital. Lana was slipping in and out of a coma. She remained in the PICU for over a week with DKA, sepsis, acute pancreatitis, and swelling of the brain. They also found a blood clot that needed treatment. She’s now coping with a diagnosis, anxiety and panic attacks. 

“Lana is my Hero for everything she’s been through and the struggles she faces every day while still being able to smile,” said her mom who nominated her.

Kids Wish Network honored Lana as a Hero through its Hero of the Month program.
