Amputee Exemplifies Determination and Kindness

Ava had her leg amputated at 16 months old. She has a prosthetic leg, and this past fall ran cross-country prior to her latest surgery. She’s been through several operations for a variety of medical issues and diagnoses.

Ava looks forward to new situations and advocates for herself when necessary. She is very generous, happy, and outgoing and makes friends with those who many of her peers ignore.

She was nominated by her Child Life Specialist Anne O’Gorman at Shriners Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts. Kids Wish Network is happy to reward Ava as a Hero.
