Chyler kept optimistic about her recovery

Chyler was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit with influenza B, strep A, and respiratory distress. She endured a chest tube, PICC line, and intense pulmonary therapy. She was scared of being in the hospital for such an extended stay but complied with hospital staff and kept optimistic about her recovery. She was nominated by Jana Sykes, her Nurse at Mercy Children’s Hospital and Clinics in Des Moines, IA. Kids Wish Network awarded Chyler’s bravery, naming her a Hero of the Month.
