Wish Kid Scores Exclusive Tour with Kansas City Chiefs

KANSAS CITY, Mo.(May2021): If you asked Austin, he’d say he’s the Kansas City Chiefs’ biggest fan. They continue to spark his passion to be a professional football player. Kids Wish Network made his dream come true, sending him to the home of the Chiefs for awe-inspiring moments on and off the field!

Kids Wish Network flew Austin and his family to Kansas City for his meaningful wish. He was also treated like a pro player, being chauffeured in a luxurious Suburban to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, courtesy of Agenda USA.They were generously provided with an exclusive tour of the stadium with private guide Al Herrera, and alumni linebacker Gary Spani who played for the team from ’78 to ’86. Austin also learned about the history of the stadium, and many fun facts like the naming of the super Bowl by Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt, who got the idea from his kids’ toy called Super Ball. Other highlights included seeing the gold suites, press box, Super Bowl trophies, and a surprise visit from alumni defensive tackle Ken Kremer who played from ’79 to ’84. The Kansas City Chiefs also presented him with a personalized #1 team jersey that Spani later signed, a KC Draft special edition ball cap, KC football, pennant, and Patrick Mahomes shirt.

One of Austin’s most surreal moments was walking onto the field, a moment in time that he’ll always cherish. “My favorite memory was seeing him take a knee at the 50-yard line,” beamed his mom Christian. During the wish, Austin and his family enjoyed stylish and convenient accommodations at the Sheraton Overland Park at the Convention Center, and memorable dinners at Carrabba’s Italian Grill and RedDoor Woodfired Grill. Last year was especially difficult for Austin. Not only was he bravely fighting leukemia, but he also endured a personal struggle. It was really disappointing having to take a break from playing on his local football team. He wondered if he’d ever play again. Austin spent a month in the hospital, and when he finally completed his eight months of chemo, he was so excited he could return to the field and continue to pursue his passion.

Many Thanks
