I Want to Meet Cinderella!

July 16th, 2010

Name: Chelsea
Age: 7
State: IN

Wish Kid

Chelsea is a sweet little 7-year-old with a love of all sorts of cartoons. She collects stuffed animals and she’s also very interested in nature. Chelsea’s favorite activities are playing with her toys and doing arts and crafts.

When she was 9-months-old, Chelsea was diagnosed with having a chromosomal abnormality that caused a range of different problems for the infant. In addition, Chelsea also suffers from a cleft palate, autism and a curvature of the spine called scoliosis. When she was 3-years-old, Chelsea stopped eating and her large intestine ceased functioning so her doctors inserted a feeding tube so that she could get nourishment. A year later, her stomach motility stopped and she had to have a port installed in order to flush her system out every other day. Currently, Chelsea has undergone 30 surgeries, including her most recent to correct an abnormality in her feet called congenital vertical talus; this surgery put pins in her feet, left her in leg braces and has also made her somewhat reliant on a wheelchair for long distance mobility.

For her wish, Chelsea wants to meet her favorite Disney Princess, Cinderella! Get out your magic wand, Chelsea, because you are about to meet the princess at her Florida “home” in Walt Disney World!

Name: Ebonnyse
Age: 9
State: GA

Wish Kid

Ebonnyse is an outgoing 9-year-old who loves Tinker Bell. She is a fan of Justin Beiber and Miley Cyrus and enjoys spending time with her dog, Betty. Ebonnyse likes to watch volleyball on TV and play games on her computer. She also enjoys reading a good book.

At less than one month of age, little Ebonnyse was diagnosed with a life-threatening condition called Sickle Cell Disease. This is a devastating and debilitating illness that affects the blood and causes serious episodes of pain. When she was about 1-year-old, Ebonnyse had her spleen removed, and because of this, she gets sick very easily. She has had many blood transfusions in her short life and will continue to need more. Her illness requires constant attention, as it can lead to blood clots, strokes, comas and even organ failure.

When it came time for Ebonnyse to decide what she wanted for her wish, the choice was simple. She wants to spend time at the happiest place on Earth: Disney World! We hope you are excited, Ebonnyse, because you are getting your wish!

Name: Nathan
Age: 10
State: OH

Wish Kid

Nathan is a loveable 10-year-old boy who enjoys listening to country music and watching shows about monster trucks and racing. His favorite color is orange and he likes to play video games and his guitar. He has two pets: a cat named Abbey and a bird named Frosty. Nathan’s favorite subject in school is science.

In April of 2000, Nathan was diagnosed with a life-threatening condition known as Shone’s Syndrome. This is a condition that affects the heart and causes several severe defects including obstructing the flow of blood to his heart. Nathan has had various heart surgeries in his 10 years, including an aortic valve replacement. His very first open heart surgery was done when Nathan was just 3-days-old. Recently, an external pacemaker was used to help regulate his heart, but after two scares of the battery dying and his heart stopping, an internal pacemaker has been implanted and is finally functioning properly. He still must be monitored and has to do activities that will not easily exert him.

For his wish, Nathan said that he would like to travel to Florida and visit Disney World. Hope you are ready to have some fun, Nathan, because you are getting your wish!

Age: 12
State: MI

Wish Kid

Margaret is a happy 12-year-old who just loves excitement. Her favorite show is “The Price is Right” and she likes to collect figurines and miniature coffee mugs. Margaret is involved in bowling for the Special Olympics and she likes spending time in water.

When she was born, Margaret was kept in the hospital for two months. During that time, her doctors determined through genetic testing that the tiny infant suffered from a genetic condition called 10p Trisomy. This rare condition has left Margaret with slow development, no verbal skills, an inability to walk and a low immune system. Margaret has suffered through 3 full blood transfusions, severe double ear infections and double pneumonia. Though she cannot talk, she communicates a little through signing and she is currently learning to walk with a walker. Most of the time, however, Margaret uses a wheelchair for mobility and she must also endure breathing treatments.

For her wish, Margaret wants to experience all the excitement she can find at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. Get ready, Margaret, because you’re about to meet Mickey Mouse!

About 6 months ago, Jocelyn felt some stiffness in her neck that became progressively worse. A trip to the doctor confirmed that Jocelyn was suffering from Subdural Empyema and Venous Sinus Thrombosis. On top of that, it was discovered she had Meningitis. Her brain began to swell, she developed a high fever, and she began to have seizures. Jocelyn lost the feeling in her left hand and leg and underwent surgery to help bring the feeling back into the appendages. Because of her condition, Jocelyn can not participate in most activities that children her age do, and she has to wear a helmet to protect her head in case she has another seizure.

Jocelyn decided that for her one wish, she would like to visit Disney World in Florida. Get ready to have an awesome time, Jocelyn, because you are getting your wish!
