CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. (April 1, 2016): Children’s charity Kids Wish Network (KWN) recently partnered with Syfy’s reality TV Show Face Off to grant the wish of a young girl with type 1 diabetes.
KWN arranged with Face Off to bring Emmy and her entire family to the set of her favorite show produced in Burbank, California. KWN was able to grant Emmy the opportunity to be present during filming and to meet the cast, including the show’s host McKenzie Westmore. It was a dream-come-true for Emmy to witness the make-up application process and catch a glimpse of all of the behind-the-scenes action. Above all, her favorite part was spending time with McKenzie Westmore, and the panel of judges, including special effects makeup artist Glenn Hetrick, creature and concept designer Neville Page, and Academy Award winning makeup artist Ve Neill.
“It was such an honor to spend the day with Emmy,” said show host McKenzie Westmore. “Emmy is such a special young lady.”
To top off her perfect day, Emmy was gifted with her very own supply of Kryolan make-up, the same brand of products that the professionals use, as well as some Face Off memorabilia.
“Emmy had a wonderful time! She’s still wearing the Face Off ball cap and jacket constantly,” said her dad, Jack Reeves.
Aware of the stress that accompanies children with life-threatening illnesses, KWN thought the 10-year-old deserved a break to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live out her greatest fantasy. What makes Emmy’s illness so dire is that she is allergic to almost all types of insulin. For now, her doctors have found an insulin her body can tolerate..
“Kids Wish Network is thrilled Face Off helped give Emmy this wonderful experience, and we look forward to working with them on future wishes,” said Kids Wish Network Executive Director, Anna Lanzatella.
Emmy and her family stayed at the luxurious Hilton Los Angeles and enjoyed VIP limo escorts by Exclusive Sedan Service as well as Black Car LA throughout their trip. They spent a fun filled day at Universal Studios and were treated to fabulous meals at Saddle Ranch Chop House, Hard Rock Café Hollywood, and Le Petit Chateau.
Right before Emmy left for Burbank, her hometown came together to celebrate her wish being granted. The Sacramento Lodge No. 6 B.P.O.E. and the Roseville B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 2248 generously contributed towards sponsoring the wish, and The Citrus Heights Police Department’s K9 Unit hosted a bon voyage party before she embarked on her dream trip.
On behalf of Emmy and her family, Kids Wish Network would like to thank all of the sponsors who participated in Emmy’s wish: Face Off, McKenzie Westmore, Hilton Los Angles Universal Hotel, Exclusive Sedan Service, Black Car LA, Universal Studios, Le Petit Chateau, Saddle Ranch Chop House, Hard Rock Café, Party City, The Citrus Heights Police Department and K9 Unit, Roseville B.P.O.E.
