“Liam left his illness behind to root for his team”
When Liam was 9 years old, he started losing weight rapidly and drinking a lot of water. A blood glucose test showed that Liam’s blood sugar levels were over 1000. Any level over 200 suggests diabetes and Liam’s levels were five times that. Liam spent 5 days in the hospital on IV insulin to bring his levels back down to normal. During that time, his parents got a crash course on how to treat type 1 diabetes, a life-long commitment of blood sugar monitoring, insulin therapy, healthy eating, and regular exercise.
Liam is an enthusiastic sports fanatic with a passion for baseball and football. He roots for his home team, the Boston Red Sox.
So, of course, Kids Wish Network looked to partner with the Boston Red Sox on a VIP Experience for Liam!
Liam and family checked into the Hyatt Regency Cambridge, overlooking Boston and close to Fenway, and took an easy walk to lunch at the famous Wahlburger’s. After lunch, Liam and his family headed over to Fenway Park for a VIP tour and a chance to watch batting practice, take pictures, and ask for autographs from some of baseball’s greatest. It was an exciting game against the NY Yankees.
The following morning, compliments of the Hyatt Regency, Liam boarded a “DUCK”, a W.W.II style amphibious landing vehicle, for a land and water tour of Boston. Later that day, he and his family enjoyed all the fun of the wacky Blue Man Group show. The day ended with a delicious dinner at Hard Rock Cafe.
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following sponsors for helping make Liam’s wish come true:
• Boston Red Sox
• Hyatt Regency Cambridge
• Hard Rock Café
• The Blue Man Group
