“McKenzie has to fight extreme exhaustion daily”

Severe mood swings and frequent trips to the bathroom alerted McKenzie’s mom that something was very wrong with her daughter’s health. At the age of 6, little McKenzie was diagnosed as a diabetic and has struggled to regulate her blood sugar levels ever since. McKenzie’s glucose levels are always either way too high, making her hyperglycemic, or way too low, making her hypoglycemic. She cannot ever seem to find a happy medium and because of that, McKenzie is forced to miss a lot of school.

The overwhelming sense of fatigue is a constant battle and the now 14 year old has yet to make it through a full week of school this year. Due to her condition, McKenzie has to check her blood sugar up to 10 times a day and needs insulin via shots or a pump up to 12 times a day.

A social butterfly and the class clown, McKenzie’s friendly and funny personality are what make her unique. Her favorite sport is volleyball and she really enjoys being in the water.

Kids Wish Network is designing a once-in-a-lifetime experience for McKenzie; make sure to stay up to date by checking back soon for all of the fabulous details on her spectacular wish!
