OMAHA, Neb. (Dec. 9, 2015): Children’s charity Kids Wish Network (KWN) is pleased to recognize Nebraska Medicine as its 3rd Quarter 2015 Honored Hero Facility for the hospital and its staff of child life specialist’s outstanding commitment and active participation in KWN’s Hero of the Month program. Kids Wish Network partners with hospitals and other childcare facilities across the country through its Hero program to honor kids who have shown great courage in the face of a life-altering situation.
The honor is awarded on a quarterly basis to the Hero facility that has gone above and beyond to celebrate these children’s strength and make their hospital stays a more positive experience.
The recipients of the Hero of the Month award are typically pediatric patients that have faced and prevailed over difficult and often tragic circumstances with admirable courage and determination that serve as an inspiration to all. Paying tribute to these children’s ability to overcome adversity helps give them the confidence they need to succeed on their roads to recovery.
Nebraska Medicine has nominated over 100 Heroes since the beginning of its affiliation with KWN. The hospital provides care to some of the sickest and most complex patients in the area. KWN is proud to partner with a facility that U.S News & World Report has named the #1 hospital in the state for several years in a row.
