SPRINGFIELD, Ma. (Oct. 5, 2015): Kids Wish Network (KWN) has recognized numerous pediatric patients at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Springfield (SHC) as Heroes since the beginning of their affiliation with KWN in 2009 through the Hero of the Month program. The Hero of the Month program honors children who have experienced life-altering situations by giving them an award package to recognize their bravery and strength.
In the month of October, KWN granted teen Jeremy Paon, who is battling bone disease, the title of Hero of the Month for SHC. Jeremy has been receiving treatment for 15 years regarding his condition.
KWN honored Jeremy with an award that SHC Administrator, Lee Kirk, presented to him. Kirk believes “Kids Wish Network’s Hero of the Month program contributes in furthering the SHC mission through the support and recognition of children” who have experienced life altering medical situations. “A key part of the vision is to transform lives,” and KWN does just that by acknowledging that these “kids are heroes,” Jeremy included.
KWN Hero Jeremy is only one of many pediatric patients who have been nominated as a Hero of the Month. All have an amazing story to tell.
