RATON, N.M. (Jan. 14, 2014): Wish Kid Lianna Garcia was more than ready to have her ultimate wish come true. Dressed in a Cinderella gown complete with a tiara, 10-year-old Lianna was finally able to meet Princess Cinderella thanks to children’s charity Kids Wish Network.
“This was truly magical for Lianna,” says her mother Cordalia Garcia. “She got to hug Cinderella. It was a dream come true.”
Lianna’s life for the past few years has been anything but a dream. In 2011, Lianna suffered her first seizure, which lasted a full five minutes, and she was soon diagnosed with epilepsy, a life-threatening brain disorder characterized by recurrent seizures. She was started on medication to treat her condition but still suffered from dangerously long seizures. Lianna has anywhere from 6 to 10 seizures a week and needs to have her treatment plan redesigned after every growth spurt.
After her first severe seizure, Lianna suffered from short-term memory loss and continues to work on improving her memory. Her frequent seizures make common activities like riding a bike extremely dangerous; at any moment, she could seize and gravely injure herself. Lianna also cannot be left alone.
Despite her daily struggles, Lianna is a sweet and caring young lady who loves to play dress up and take care of younger children. Like many girls her age, she loves the Disney Princesses, especially Cinderella. Lianna’s biggest dream was to meet Cinderella in person, a wish that Kids Wish Network happily granted.
Lianna’s ultimate wish to visit Cinderella’s castle and meet the princess was granted on her once-in-a-lifetime wish trip to Disney World. Lianna and her family enjoyed luxury accommodations, extra special dinners, and all the magic of the parks.
With the help of one of Lianna’s wish sponsors, Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa, Lianna also received a princess makeover complete with her own Cinderella dress and tiara. After the makeover, Lianna was more than ready to meet her favorite princess.
“Thank you Kids Wish Network for making her wish come true,” adds Garcia. “Lianna was so happy and excited to meet Cinderella.”
Kids Wish Network would like to thank all the generous sponsors that helped make Lianna’s wish an unforgettable experience: Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa, Jillycakes, T-Rex Café, Hard Rock Café, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and Compassion Partners Program.
The Garcia family hopes that as Lianna gets older and her medication doses are increased, she might one day be seizure free.
