Mercy Medical Center – Iowa
Trista is a brave and positive 9-year-old who suffers from an immunodeficiency disorder called DiGeorge syndrome. She has had a life of hospitals and was recently admitted to Mercy Medical Center for a 6-day stay.
Trista suffered from a horrible kidney infection and wasn’t able to eat or drink. She didn’t have energy to talk, walk, play or visit with company. Her mom said it was one of her daughter’s worst moments. Through medication, the facility was able to treat the infection and Trista recovered.
“Trista has had a life of hospitals and I don’t believe ever been selected to participate in something like this,” writes her mom Tiffany. “As her parent, I was very excited to take her to the hospital for a picture and to receive an award for once, no tests involved and no illnesses. This give means so much to us, thank you for such a wonderful idea and such a positive memory.”
We’re so happy that we could recognize Trista! She’s definitely a true Hero!
