Kaitlyn was admitted to Virtua Voorhees Hospital in July with abdominal pain she had been experiencing for a few months. At the time, Kaitlyn suffering from excruciating pain, a high fever and an infection; she was immediately treated with IV medications. The brave 12-year-old girl required multiple tests and invasive procedures including a trip to the operating room where she had abdominal surgery.
Unfortunately, the cause of Kaitlyn’s discomfort couldn’t be diagnosed right away. She will require additional studies and procedures in the future.>/p>
“Despite her challenges, Kaitlyn was very positive,” recalls her nominating Child Life Specialist. “We were all very thrilled to have the opportunity to nominate Kaitlyn and see firsthand how this award truly lifted her spirits during a very difficult time.”
