Adele’s Merry Mickey and Disney Christmas

It was all so cool!

When Wish Kid Adele was born, she seemed perfectly healthy. But when she was just 4 weeks old, she starting showing concerning symptoms. Adele was taken back to the hospital where she was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, a genetic disorder that causes thick, sticky mucus to build up in the lungs, digestive tract and other areas of the body.

Her parents were given a crash course on how to care for a child with cystic fibrosis, and Adele began her preventative treatment immediately. To help break-up the thick mucus in her lungs, Adele was hooked up to a machine twice a day and did other breathing treatments frequently. Adele has to be very careful when playing with other children because even the simplest sniffle can land her in the hospital.

A picc line is used frequently to administer antibiotics to Adele when she gets sick. Her stuffy nose turns into a cough which often turns into a hospital stay; Adele’s hospital visits range anywhere from two to eight days each time. Adele is now able to use vest therapy to help with her condition and can be mobile during treatment but is homeschooled as a preventative measure.

Adele is very artistic and crafty; she loves making paper dolls and jewelry and singing and dancing. No matter what time of year it is, Adele loves to listen to Christmas carols, especially Disney remixes. She doesn’t care if it’s April or August, she will always belt her heart out. KWN knew that when Disney World does Christmas, it does it big, and we couldn’t wait to send Adele to her favorite place during her favorite time of year.

Adele was ecstatic to be in the middle of the huge holiday celebration. She loved visiting the parks, meeting all the Princesses, being treated like royalty at her dinners, and having a special character breakfast. And, of course, all the Christmas decorations and music.

But Adele’s favorite part? “I can’t tell because it was all so cool!” she exclaimed.

“We had such an amazing time at Disney; Adele had a blast,” adds her mom Misty. “Thank you Kids Wish Network for making Adele’s wish come true.”
