Abigail, Ciara and Mattingly’s wishes all have at least one thing in common; they all want to meet the Disney Princesses! The three Wish Kids started their wish trips the end of the July and a few lucky KWN staff members got to greet them outside the gates of the Magic Kingdom. The girls were given KWN surprise bags stuffed with gifts to add to the princess experience.
Abigail is a 6-year-old firecracker from Ohio who couldn’t wait to put on her Elsa princess dress once she reached the park. One year ago, Abigail was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and is completely dependent on insulin to survive. She requires an implanted insulin pump and has her blood sugar checked 10 times a day.
Ciara suffers from type 1 diabetes, like Abigail, and also combats severe epilepsy. The 5-year-old from South Carolina suffered her first seizure at 2 ½ years old and has repeat episodes ranging from mild to extreme seizures about every six months. The outgoing and talkative little girl gladly smiled for the camera and immediately made friends with the other Wish Kids.
Mattingly, who just turned 5, wears a Disney Princess dress all the time. The Texas child suffers from severe viral induced asthma and is one of the youngest diagnosed cases of COPD, chronic pulmonary disease. Mattingly has landed in the hospital over 23 times for 2-5 days per visit but she doesn’t let these stays damper her princess spirit. She definitely loved posing for photos and showing off her new Aurora earrings.
