her family had a magical time
In the summer of 2013, Wish Kid Haley started experiencing concerning symptoms, so her parents took her to the doctor. After blood tests and excruciating days of waiting, Haley was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, a chronic condition in which the pancreas doesn’t produce enough hormones needed to allow sugar to enter cells and produce energy.
Haley spent four days in the hospital learning about how to care for her disease, and by the time she left, 3-year-old Haley was checking her own blood sugar. Haley continues to make progress with managing her blood sugar and has adjusted well to her new diet and diabetic routine. In July 2014, she received an insulin pump to help administer the life-saving medication.
While she does well managing her condition, she will have to deal with this for the rest of her life. Diabetes is incurable and can lead to major health issues down the road, but Haley doesn’t let this constant fear get her down. Haley loves to play dress up and is obsessed with the Disney Princesses so KWN knew exactly where to send her on her wish trip!
Haley and her family had a magical time visiting the “happiest place on Earth.” KWN arranged for luxury accommodations, fun and entertaining dinners, and a lot of magic at the parks. Haley loved visiting Disney World and having her dream to meet some princesses come true.
“Haley had a wonderful trip,” adds her mom Andrea. “Thank you Kids Wish Network for all your hard work.”
KWN and Haley would like to thank all the sponsors who helped make Haley’s dream come true!
