The recipients of the Hero of the Month program, like Justice, have faced and overcome difficult and often tragic circumstances with courage and spirits that serve as an inspiration to us all. Paying tribute to these children’s ability to overcome adversity makes a real and positive difference in their recovery.
At Shriners – Cincinnati, each hero is presented with a Kids Wish Network certificate, HERO shirt and wristband, Guardian Angel coin and gift card. The HERO packets are hand-delivered and every child is celebrated at their check-up visits.
“The HERO program boosts the patients’ confidence and self-esteem and helps other people recognize the obstacles our patients have overcome and continue to face,” says Child Life Specialist Katie Campos. “It also provides a reminder for the staff to look at what our patients have accomplished and gives us a way to reward them.”
Shriners Hospitals for the Children – Cincinnati honored 19 heroes in 2013. The hospital is designated by the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeons as a Verified Burn Center, meeting the highest standards of burn care. Every member of its staff is focused on providing the highest quality care that puts the family at the center of the team.
Kids Wish Network is delighted to acknowledge the staff at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Cincinnati and recognize them for their dedication to the Hero of the Month program.
