Emily is a spunky eight-year-old who loves sports, especially basketball. Her favorite class in school is gym and her favorite thing to do is play outside. Emily also collects Toy Story toys, rocks and Justin Bieber memorabilia.
When Emily was 10 months old, she wasn’t growing as quickly as other babies and was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. This condition clogs the lungs with mucus, interferes with digestion and can lead to life-threatening lung diseases. After her diagnosis, Emily was fitted with a feeding tube to ensure she received proper nutrition and also underwent surgery. Since then, Emily has been in and out of the hospital and was just started on a new medication regimen. She also endures daily breathing treatments and uses a percussion vest twice a day.
