Wishes are extraordinary. I know, because I help grant them.
My name is Rhonda, and I’m a Wish Coordinator here at Kids Wish Network. Every day I am amazed at the strength and courage of the kids for whom I grant wishes. They’re constantly in pain, in and out of hospitals, and their situations are up and down daily, but they still keep their positive outlooks; I am truly honored to be able to make their dreams come true.
One of the things that really helps bring home the magic of Kids Wish Network is when a parent, guardian, or even a wish kid his or herself sends us a ‘thank you’ note. We know they enjoyed their wish, but seeing it explained in their own words is truly special. In fact, I just got one that really made me smile from the mother of my wish kid, Grace, whose wish was to swim with dolphins. The letter was touching and very inspiring so I thought it would be nice to share some of it with you all:
The wish trip was a wonderful experience. Children like my daughter miss out on so many things. This past year was especially difficult…we truly needed a break.
Grace recently told me that a glass is always full. Even if it appears to be half-full, it really is full; half of it with liquid, half with air. I’ve learned that children like my daughter may not have glasses filled up the same way as other kids, but they are, none-the-less, full.
Thank you for reminding us that we need to dream and live our lives to the fullest. Thank you for giving us a wonderful memory during a turbulent time.
