This morning we learned that a longtime supporter of Kids Wish Network, Mr. Lynn P. Keaton of Greensboro, North Carolina, passed away last Saturday. In reading his obituary, we learned that we had more in common with Mr. Keaton than just a shared passion for helping children.
We knew that Lynn Keaton was a generous and caring person; for years he was a “Guardian Angel” for our wish kids and donated frequently to help further Kids Wish Network’s mission of infusing hope, creating happy memories and improving the quality of life for children worldwide. However, we didn’t know that Mr. Keaton was a veteran who served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, that he was an Atlanta Braves and a Chicago Cubs fan, that he enjoyed deep sea fishing, and especially that he was a Shriner with the Corinthian 0542 Chapter in North Carolina.
Finding out that Mr. Keaton was a Shriner gave us a better understanding of his commitment and ongoing support of our cause. He knew that our programs directly serve the children in the Shriners Hospitals he cared for so much. Since the start of our Holiday of Hope Gift Bank program, Kids Wish Network has provided toys and necessities to children served by Shriners Hospitals for Children throughout the country. We’ve also hosted a number of Holiday of Hope events at numerous Shriners Hospitals over the years, and bring our Hero of the Month program to children served by Shriners facilities from Massachusetts to Texas.
We know that Mr. Keaton was truly loved by his family and friends who will miss him greatly and today, we at Kids Wish Network are saddened to know that one of our generous and caring “Guardian Angels” has passed away. We send our most heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during their time of need.
