NILES, Ohio – A boy with a life-threatening illness has his wish to visit Disney World granted by national children’s charity Kids Wish Network and generous sponsors.
Early last year, Noah’s mother noticed that 5-year-old Noah’s lymph nodes were swollen. She took him to the doctor, who put him on antibiotics. These didn’t work and so Noah was sent to a specialist who performed various tests and found out that Noah was suffering from a cancer of the blood called pre-T cell acute lymphocytic leukemia.
However, before his doctors could begin to try and treat the cancer, they had to reduce the swelling in Noah’s lymph nodes, which were causing up to 90% blockage of his air passage. Once the swelling was reduced, Noah underwent a surgery to implant a port in his chest so that he could receive chemotherapy and radiation treatment. He has since undergone several chemo treatments, but still needs the radiation. Noah has also suffered through several blood and platelet transfusions. Because of his condition, Noah is currently out of school and will be in treatment for the next two to three years.
Noah’s aunt was the person to tell Noah’s parents about international charity Kids Wish Network and the wishes they grant for children suffering from life-threatening illnesses. After referring her son to the charity to have a wish granted, Noah proclaimed that his dream was to visit Dollywood in Pigeon Forge.
A Kids Wish Network Wish Coordinator planned Noah’s wish and arranged for tickets to Dollywood, accommodations at Bear Run Falls – a chalet in Tennessee – and even dinners every evening.
“We had a wonderful time,” said Noah’s mother, Linda. “He got to do everything he wanted.”
Out of all the fun rides he got to experience, Noah’s personal favorite was the train in Dollywood. He was also treated like a VIP everywhere he went, even the dinners. At the Texas Roadhouse in particular, Noah was given the royal treatment with a tour of the kitchens, a seat in a special saddle chair and he was even presented with a t-shirt to take home in memory of his dinner there.
Now that he’s home, Noah is just enjoying his memories and souvenirs, hoping to return to Dollywood in the future.
“I would like to thank everyone for giving Noah a wonderful wish,” said Linda. “Without your help, this wouldn’t have been possible. Thank you.”
Kids Wish Network would like to thank the following for helping to make Noah’s wish extra special: Dollywood, Bear Run Falls at Golfview Resort, Texas Roadhouse, Cracker Barrel, Wonderworks and Lumberjack Feud Dinner & Show.
