Name: Luke
Age: 18
State: SC

Luke is an intelligent and studious teen who enjoys learning about journalism and communications. He’s a big fan of NBC news anchor Brian Williams and watches NBC Nightly News every evening. Luke is also a great public speaker and National Youth Chairman for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He enjoys listening to country music, including artists such as Brad Paisley, Reba, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts and Sugarland.
At just 14 months old, Luke was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy, a genetic disease that causes ongoing muscle degeneration and weakening for which there is currently no cure. Because of this, Luke has never had the ability to walk and has been in a wheelchair since the age of 2. He uses an inhaler and percussion vest to maintain respiratory health and the severity of his condition requires the presence of specialized caregivers 24 hours a day. Despite this need, which may be seen by others as a disability, Luke is currently attending college on campus at Furman University and enjoying every second of it.
For his wish, Luke would love the opportunity to meet with his hero, news anchor and journalist Brian Williams. Get ready to take a bite out of the “Big Apple,” Luke, because you’re heading to the NBC studios in New York!
