I just recently started working for Kids Wish Network and last week I was blessed with the opportunity to volunteer for the Holiday of Hope event at Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Tampa. I was very excited about volunteering and passing out toys to kids. I have a 3 year old of my own, and I just love the look that appears on a child’s face as you hand them a brand new surprise; I could only imagine the smiles when we would give out a giant bag full of toys!
On the other hand, I was also nervous. I’m great with children, but I was worried that seeing them have to endure so much would overwhelm me with emotions. Well, I was right about being overwhelmed with emotions, but not for the reasons I thought. The children there were so admirable and brave. They got out on the dance floor and danced like no one was watching. They sang their hearts out and just had a blast. The room was truly only filled with hope and laughter. Thanks again to all the remarkable little ones who showed me a whole new meaning of bravery.
